Bonding of LCD screens
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. An LCD screen is a thin and flat display that can come in two forms: reflective or transflective. Simply put, the reflective LCD is equipped with a reflective layer that bounces light back. To see what is displayed, an external light source is needed. This is not the case for the transflective LCD, which has an internal light source. In modern manufacturing, the transflective LCD is commonly used. Due to its low power consumption, low cost, and high resolution, it is a very popular material in electronic devices such as mobile phones, televisions, digital watches, and computers.

For optimal adhesion, parts should always be cleaned before bonding begins.
LCD screens are essentially a kind of sandwich composed of many different active layers that need to be bonded together. For the screen to function properly, the adhesive used must meet strict requirements.
Therefore, it is recommended to use a UV/light-curing adhesive with specific properties for production. It must be completely transparent without yellowing, resistant to shocks and vibrations, have low viscosity, be flexible, and protect the components from moisture. A UV/light-curing adhesive with all these properties is optimal for bonding LCD screens.
Often, the entire adhesive cannot be cured due to shadowed areas where a case or frame covers parts of the LCD to be bonded.
Here, a DualBond/DualCure adhesive, which cures first by light and then by heat, is advantageous.
There may also be areas where electrically conductive adhesive must connect some components while also bonding to the LCD.
These adhesives are not transparent but can sometimes be used in outer areas where electrical conductivity is necessary.
Lastly, it should be mentioned that epoxies and silicones can also bond to LCD in constructions where the LCD is used not as a screen but as other components.
